Sir Charles is a Nashville-based artist making cinematic indie rock with a distinctly British pulse. Dreamy guitars, big melodies, a little swagger, and songs that come from somewhere real. Raised in Kentucky and shaped by years spent in New York City and Nashville, Sir Charles has never followed a particularly straight path. Music has always been the constant, but his life has moved through different creative worlds, from songwriting and performing to interior design, fashion, visual merchandising, furniture restoration, and creative direction. Before stepping fully into his identity as a solo artist, he spent years designing high-end residential interiors in Nashville, working on homes and projects connected to Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher, Alan Jackson, Trace Adkins, Rodney Atkins, Chase Rice, Todd Chrisley, and others. His work also included projects connected to the Nashville Parade of Homes. Before Nashville, there was New York City, where he worked in fashion and design, including visual merchandising at Saks Fifth Avenue and interior design in Manhattan. Those years developed an instinct for composition, atmosphere, texture, color, and presentation that eventually found its way back into his music. For Sir Charles, there has never been much separation between those worlds. A room can tell a story. A photograph can tell a story. A guitar tone can tell a story. Now, the songs do. Musically, Sir Charles pulls from the artists and records that have followed him through his life: The Stone Roses Echo & the Bunnymen David Bowie The Verve Early Coldplay Classic rock and roll American roots music The darker edges of alternative rock The result sits somewhere between British cool and American grit, with shimmering guitars, hypnotic melodies, cinematic atmosphere, and an emotional honesty that keeps everything grounded. The songs come from a life actually lived. Kentucky beginnings. New York ambition. Sixteen years in Nashville. Love and heartbreak. Creative risks. Reinvention. Getting older. Getting things wrong. Starting again. And occasionally finding those rare moments when all the noise disappears and you remember exactly who you are.
